The Best Date Night Ever

A normal date night for me and my spouse consists of no kids, a quiet dinner with some adult beverages. Occasionally it might be a movie, or a concert. A good friend of mine made me aware about this Date night wood working shop  located in Kemah where you get to build one of many projects and take it home with you. As someone who has never used a power tool to say I was intimidated is an understatement. Luckily I am married to a guy who knows how to use every tool. The doors opened right at 7:00. There are several projects to choose from. My husband and I decided to do the Texas flag project. Before you start working on your project is dinner time. Who doesn't like fajitas from Mr. Sombrero's? Chicken and Beef fajitas with all the fixins. Beverages are provided as well. You can also bring a bottle of wine if you would like to. After dinner the owners Daniel and Jessica Ballard start off with an orientation on how to use each tool, and then passing out safety gear.  You choose your lumber and get started. The owners are available the whole time for help with the tools or building the project. After your project is put together it's time to paint. This is where my biggest contribution came into place. This night consisted of lots of laughs and a lot of fun. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to do something different than the same old boring movie and dinner. We had such a great time and cannot wait to return to try another project.  We made our first TX flag.
